[FREEBIE] How to Take the Guesswork out of EL Education Skills Block Lessons and Get Your Time Back NOW!

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series EL Education Lessons

If you’re anything like me, the moment you saw how many resources come with the EL Education Skills Block Lessons, you were immediately overwhelmed.

Navigating the first year teaching EL in kindergarten (while in a pandemic no less!) felt like I was trying to drink water from a fire hydrant. I was continually finding pieces of lessons in EL Education books I didn’t even know that I had. I’ve talked a little bit about how frustrating that experience was before.

Then I would worry I had neglected to teach a key part of the lesson because I simply didn’t know the resource existed. However, by the end of the school year, I had somewhat of a handle on what resources I needed and when. At that point, my focus shifted to making it more kid-friendly and engaging for my students, while also making it work for my existing classroom systems.

Finding Resources for EL Education Skills Block Lessons

I immediately began scouring Teachers Pay Teachers for resources. I pieced together my own “curriculum” of EL Education Kindergarten-aligned worksheets, center activities, and started making my own supporting materials.

The more I created, the more I realized that many teachers were in the same boat I was in–needing something to simplify the process and save their sanity so they could actually enjoy teaching.

That’s why I began creating the EL Education Skills Block lessons for kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade, with my own twist. I made EL Education PowerPoint lessons with easy-to-read teacher notes, more visually appealing response pages, anchor chart templates, graphic organizers, and more.

As I simplified the process, I found that I began to enjoy the curriculum. I realized my initial apprehension of it was not the material itself, but the way it was presented. My hope is that this is true for you too!
